Dr. Camino is an active member of the AO Spine Knowledge Forum for Trauma and Infection group, one of the most prestigious and selective global groups dedicated to advancing spinal surgery and research, further reinforcing his status as an international leader in the field. In addition, he is a member of the European Spine Society (EUROSPINE), the Spanish Spine Society (GEER), the Spanish Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery (SECOT) and the Spanish Society of Percutaneous and Endoscopic Spine Surgery (SECPEC).

Dr. Gastón Camino has been a specialist in spinal surgery for more than 10 years. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina) and later trained as a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology at the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires.

Dr. Gastón Camino currently works as a doctor assigned to the Traumatology service of the Gipuzkoa Polyclinic.

Dr. Camino completed multiple Fellowships in spine surgery in Switzerland, Argentina and the United States.

In 2013 he completed a six-month research training in orthopedics and traumatology at the AO Foundation’s AO Research Institute, a world-renowned center in Davos, Switzerland.

In 2018, he completed three months of training at Harborview Medical Center, a reference center for spinal trauma, in Seattle, United States.

Dr. Gastón Camino Willhuber is an international medical graduate, obtaining a medical license in the United States, he has been able to complete a year-long training in spine surgery at the UCI Medical Center, University of California, Irvine and training in spine research at the Hospital for Special Surgery, in New York.

Dr. Camino is mainly dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies of the spine, both those of degenerative origin (disc herniation, spinal stenosis, discopathies), spinal deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis), tumor pathology and vertebral fractures.

He has a great interest in the development of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery, the use of new technologies such as augmented and navigated reality surgery of the spine. In addition, he frequently uses the surgical microscope and tries to judiciously incorporate the latest advances into his surgeries.

Scientific researcher

Throughout his career he has participated in various research projects, which have resulted in scientific publications, in addition to being co-editor of a book. He is developing his Doctoral Thesis at the Department of Anatomy of the University of Buenos Aires, on the development and improvement of a surgical technique called Percutaneous Discoplasty with Cement. He has actively participated as a guest speaker in monographic spine surgery courses for years.
